My entry for Boyfriend Dungeon’s fan art contest! I wanted to do all the characters, but I literally just found out about this contest yesterday haha… So I drew my faves <3 <3
- it’s a dungeon crawler/dating sims, where all your weapons are your ‘dating’ options
- the voice acting? Phenomenal. The anime character intros? Incredible. The weapon puns? Wanted to stab myself, loved them.
- this is one of the most inclusive dating sims I’ve ever seen! You the pc can change your pronouns/appearance all throughout the game, no romance option is gender-locked, you can play as aromantic and/or asexual, AND all characters make it clear in their dialogue that they are fine with polyamory if you can’t choose just one character! It’s literally an achievement!
- the game starts with content warnings (which you should DEFINITELY heed) and asks consent for including a ‘mom’ character who you do interact with a lot via text - more games should do this!!
- two of the romance options use they/them pronouns and there’s one that’s a cat (that you can’t necessarily romance but! Cat!). This game knows what you wanted from a dating sim
DOWNSIDES: the villain is a f*ckboi that you can’t avoid and IS problematic. There are only two dungeons and (if you feel the need to 100% complete the game like I did) you’ll have to rerun them a few times. The game seemed so short???
